The posts started coming out closer to Monday because I decided that the weekend should be a weekend - a time when you can just lie around and do nothing (though, contrary to that, I actually got quite a lot done over the weekend)
France is currently experiencing its third heat wave, with temperatures reaching 40 degrees in some regions - and even higher in the sun and in areas where air isn’t circulating
An unpleasant side effect of the heat is the numerous forest and other fires across France; just a stone’s throw away from us, 800 hectares of protected forest in Fontainebleau are burning. According to reports, aircraft have already been deployed there, and a section of the A6 highway - which runs from Paris and passes nearby - has been closed

The famous firefighters' balls and multiple fireworks displays scheduled for July 14 have been canceled due to the weather and the risk of fire

As I'm writing this column, my phone displayed a notification
For now, the danger level remains at red (the highest) in most regions, with no chance of it dropping to a lower level, so let’s drink more water and avoid going outside after 11 a.m. if we can help it. And don’t play with fire
As you can imagine, I ended up back in France, where we had the fantastic Raise Summit earlier this week - we were among the top 10 finalists (technically the top 5, but for Google for Startups / Google DeepMind). We didn’t take first place in the pitch competition, but overall, it was great just to be there and participate
Meanwhile, I’m sorting out some issues with my hospital bills. They actually have a whole service where you can pay by card on their website! Apparently, not everything was covered by insurance, but oh well. I hardly use the bandage anymore (first of all, it’s hot, and second, there’s nowhere left to put it), which is also a bonus. But I’m not even thinking about sports yet, because just the thought of going outside for a run gives me heatstroke
So for now, all my workouts are on hold, but I can’t say I’ve actually gained that much weight during these months off, since my body still burns about 3,000 calories at rest, and I’m still wary of pushing myself too hard. Who knows what could happen in this kind of weather - or in general
That's all for this week - take care of yourselves, and drink lots of water !
A little Easter treat for my online readers - if you leave your address via the contact form, I'll send you a postcard from France
